  • Why should I get life insurance?

Life insurance products provide certainty for you and your family if something unexpected occurs, like sickness, accident, or even death. While it's not a pleasant thought, we never know when something might happen. Insurance allows the financial freedom to move on with life.

  • What life insurance products are available?

There are several products, and it can seem a bit complicated!

Life Insurance pays a lump sum to your beneficiary if you pass away, or are teminally ill and have less than 12 months to live. Total and Permanent Disability pays a lump sum if sickness or injury prevents you from ever working again. Critical Illness covers you if you suffer from a listed medical condition (like cancer, stroke or heart attack). Income Protection generally pays 70% of your income if you cannot work because of sickness or injury.

  • How much cover do I need?

We explain in simple terms all the things you may want to consider when choosing the type and amount of cover to take. You choose. We guide.

  • What's the difference between personal advice and general advice?

Personal advice is provided by a qualified financial planner. They collect detailed personal and financial information and make a specific recommendation about how much life insurance you should have. They also advise on superannuation, investments, and broader financial strategies. It’s a more complex process, but it’s valuable for people who want tailored advice.

General advice is provided by someone who specialises in life insurance, but we don’t collect your personal financial information and we don’t tell you what you should do. Instead, we explain how the different types of cover work, outline your options, and help you understand what to consider. Our service is product‑neutral, simple, and free.

  • What is underwriting?

Underwriting is the stage where the insurer reviews your health and personal details to understand your level of risk. This helps them decide what cover they can offer and on what terms. We guide you through the process and manage the back‑and‑forth with insurers so it feels simple and stress‑free.

  • Do you sell insurance?

No. We provide general advice to help you understand your options. We present you with some products that may be suitable. You choose the cover that feels right for you. Then we assist you completing the application and next steps.

  • What does it cost?

Cornerstone Life Insurance Consultants do not charge for our service.

In the event you buy a policy, we  receive a commission from the insurer (similar to the way mortgage brokers are paid by banks).

  • Is this the same as Financial Planning?

No. We only provide general advice on life insurance products. Our role is to give you clear, simple guidance without the complexity of a full financial plan. Financial planning takes into account your personal situation and financial position to advise you on growing or protecting your assets. One part of that process is recommending the type and amount of life insurance cover you need.  If you need personal financial advice, we can introduce you to a qualified Financial Planner.

  • Do you collect my financial information?

No. Our model is designed to keep things simple and low‑pressure.

If you decide to apply for cover, the insurer will ask you for detailed medical history, your occupation, and may also need some financial information, as part of their process.

  • Are you affiliated with any life insurance brands or products?

No. We offer product‑neutral guidance and review quality life insurance products from across the market, so you can choose what's best for your needs.
